Many residents are drawn to the Village of Laveen because waste management is so convenient. To rid themselves of unwanted junk, residents simply drive to the nearest street corner and drop it off. Residents especially love the open all night policy as most people find the time to dump their trash at night.
It's a great policy that many have taken advantage of, the nighttime hours are especially good for those hoping to keep their anonymity. They are free to dump their junk and trash without the judgment of others since the street corner facilities are unmanned. The new dumping policy gives residents freedom and peace of mind.
Seems like a pretty legit system, until your conscience gets in the way and all of a sudden this new system sounds a lot like illegal dumping. And even though it's been a big problem in Laveen for some time, there doesn’t seem to be much going on to try and stop it. Maybe the City doesn’t really mind the new way residents have decided to deal with their trash.
In an effort to thwart these devil make care litters, cameras were installed, signs posted warning residents they were now being watched, but they have had little to no effect. Illegal dumping is still occurring, and the City can’t get enough information from their camera footage to make any headway. They have released images of some jerks caught in the act but are relying on residents to help identify the culprits.
Looks like wading through trash will be the new standard in Laveen, you might be able to get a great deal on a home if you’re willing to put up with all the junk. Or maybe it's time for the City to step up and make some real and useful changes.
Obviously, the current waste management system is not working for many residents. Cameras and other deterrents are not stopping anyone. It's time to look at real and productive ways to make a lasting and effective change.
Either amend the system so everyone is able to get rid of their junk when they need to, figure out how to prevent illegal dumping, or get better and faster at cleaning up junk.
Right now the only things residents can do is let the City know. If you see a dumping ground, or someone illegally dumping call the City at 602-534-4444. You might not see any results, but until some changes are made there's not much else you can do.
While government entities are used to shoveling crap, they are nowhere near as experienced at removing junk than we are. If you have the misfortune of living in the Laveen dumping grounds remember we can help with that. One call and we’ll clean up the dump until your street corner is good as new.
